 Representatives and Senators:

 

  • To write to your legislator at the State House, the address is:
    115 State Street -- Drawer 33, Montpelier, VT 05602

 

  • To leave a phone message at the State House, call the *Sergeant-at-Arms’ office: 1-800-322-5616 or 828-2228. The fax number at the State House is (802) 828-2424.

 

*The Sergeant-at-Arms’ office is a powerful tool to get a point across in the legislature. Pages   delivering notes can create a grand impact with committee members. Simple, direct messages are best.

 

Governor: 

 

  • To write to the Governor the address is:  
    109 State St. -- Pavilion, Montpelier, Vermont 05609 

     

  • You can call his office: Phone: 802-828-3333

   

What Should go in the letter/email:

  •  Keep it under one page or five hundred words if you are writing an email.

  • Address only one topic in your letter. Example: Act 68 2023, draft 25-0152 concerning    

       Reappraisal Districts or (Bill number and title of Bill)

  • Introduce yourself:  State any professional credentials or personal experience you may have,   

       especially those pertaining to the subject of your letter.

  • Include your home address.

  • If using email, send it to only one representative at a time.

  • State your subject clearly in the subject line or the first sentence of the letter.

  • Include facts.

  • Avoid personal attacks.
