PRESIDENT’S REPORT SEPTEMBER 2012

Annual Meeting – We have an exciting and informational meeting planned for this year.

Date: Friday, September 21st, 2012
Location:  Vermont Technology College, Randolph, VT
Agenda:  Agenda and Information Package will be emailed on September 6th
Speakers:  AM – Jim Barlow (VLCT) “The Tales of the BCA”
PM – Ed Clodfelther (NEMRC) “Doing Your Own Reappraisal, The Good-The Bad-The Ugly”
(Do we really want  to do this task??).

Membership Campaign – Membership Payments for 2012-2013 is $1950.00 as of September 27th.  Our Budget goal is $3000.00.  The Membership Registration Form is on the VALA website.    Friendly Reminder – complete your form with your check to Penny Ally.  Non-Members and Renewing Members can always bring their $50.00 town membership and complete th eir form at the annual meeting.  Bring your neighboring town’s Listers to the annual meeting (with their check).

VALA Budget 2012-2013 – The Treasurer provided me with the year-end expense and revenue numbers.  These numbers were used to put together the Recommended Budget for approval.  The recommended budge is one of your meeting attachments.

Vala Committees – One of your meeting attachments is the 2012-2013 standing committee list along with a brief committee description.  The goal is to blend new or reelected delegates who are willing to serve with an experienced committee base and chair.  I will be recommending that the Vice President be the Finance Committee Chair as part of preparing to be the future candidate for president.

County Delegates – In response to membership input the Basic Roles “State of the Organization” message for the annual meeting I will further emphasize the service responsibilities for the delegates.

Bi-Laws – Carol Hammond and I have finished the Bi-Law changes that were discussed at the July Meeting.  They will need to be approved for adoption at the annual meeting.  The Bi-Laws are one of your meeting attachments.

Financial Audit – Penny Allyn is working with Louise to complete the annual financial audit.  I am not certain her written report and recommendations will be ready for the September 5th meeting.

VALA Depreciation Class – October 9th class registration forms have been distributed via e-mail (Forms are also on the website under Education Opportunities tab) and checks are beginning to arrive.
